Unless it’s a “Selfie” Why aren’t Moms in more photos?

In today’s digital age, it’s easier than ever to snap countless photos of our children as they grow. However, amidst this flurry of photos snaps, often only stored on our phone, there’s a crucial element that often gets overlooked: you (mom) are most likely absent from these pictures / memories!!!

Why I feel this is so important:

Photos allow your children to look back at their childhood and appreciate the role their family played in their lives. It helps them understand their own history and the love that shaped them; how can this history possibly be complete without including photos of them and their Mom???

Mama’s : Pictures are not just about documenting every detail of your child’s life but also about capturing your motherhood; your bond, your love, all the milestones that you shared together!

So, why aren’t we in more pics?

Many moms shy away from the camera due to self-consciousness or always being the default family photographer.

Here are some ideas to overcome help overcome these barriers!

  • Embrace your imperfections and recognize that your children value your presence more than your appearance!
  • Encourage other family members to take photos so that moms can be in the frame during birthdays, holidays, and family gatherings.
    • Offer to snap a photo of a Mom and her little while out at the park if you feel comfortable- she will most likely be surprised but grateful , and could possibly offer to return the favor!
Last but not least… My Most Favorite Suggestion!!
    • Family Photo Sessions: Find an affordable lifestyle photographer for family photo sessions that include everyone, or fun one on one mommy and me mini sessions ! We try to do these annually , or to capture
important milestones birthdays. We now have wall canvases , Holliday Card material, and priceless memories displayed throughout our home (rather than our phones) !!!
